White dress preview

I’d been eyeing JCrew wedding dresses for the longest time. Their simple silhouettes are so elegant and flattering. So in the week after Stephen proposed, I stopped by the JCrew wedding department at Lennox Square in Atlanta.

At first, I felt a little funny trying on such fancy dresses. Plus, all those ivory dresses kind of started to look the same after a while. After the first two, I was already wondering if maybe I should just wrap myself up in a white bed sheet and call it a day.

But Michelle (the salesperson and wedding expert extraordinaire who was helping me out) was so good at honing in on what I might like. I discovered that fabric was a really important deciding factor, and it’s something that’s harder to intuit from online or magazine photos.

The silk tricotine fabric was my favorite, since it’s so streamlined, silky, and classic. Eventually, I narrowed it down to these three. I really felt like myself in all of them. Also, thanks to petite sizes, I won’t even have to get the dress altered. Is that simple or what?
